Prince Edward Island held two immigration draws in October, inviting a total of 254 candidates to apply for provincial nomination. The first draw took place on October 7, followed by another selection round on October 16.

Both draws focused on workers in occupations and sectors that are important to the province’s economy. Graduates from selected post-secondary institutions in Prince Edward Island also received priority consideration.

Invited candidates have up to 30 days to submit their provincial nomination applications. Those who receive a nomination can then apply to the federal government for permanent residence.

Moreover, candidates already living in Canada who have applied for permanent residence after receiving a nomination may also qualify for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP).

Draw Details

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) issued invitations through two pathways: Labour Impact, a base stream, and PEI Express Entry, an enhanced stream.

Priority consideration was given to graduates from the following three post-secondary institutions in the province:

  • University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI);
  • Holland College; and
  • Collège de l’Île.

The province does not disclose how invitations are divided between immigration streams or which occupations the selected candidates work in.

However, its published selection priorities include healthcare, trades, manufacturing & other key industries facing labour shortages.

With these latest draws, the PEI PNP has held 11 provincial immigration selection rounds in 2026, issuing a total of 1,483 invitations to apply.

The Labour Impact Category includes three streams: Skilled Worker, Critical Worker and International Graduate.

Labour Impact candidates who receive provincial nomination & submit a permanent residence application may be able to apply for a BOWP sooner. Under a temporary measure introduced on June 9, 2026, eligible applicants in Canada under a base Provincial Nominee Program stream do not need to receive an Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR) before applying for a BOWP.

Remaining PEI PNP Selection Rounds

Prince Edward Island plans to hold two more selection rounds in 2026, scheduled for November 19 and December 17. The dates were announced earlier in the year, although the schedule may change.

October marked a departure from the province’s published invitation schedule. PEI held two selection rounds even though only one had been planned. The October 7 draw was unscheduled, while the October 16 round took place one day after its published date.

Despite this change, the province has largely followed its planned schedule. Eight of the 11 draws held in 2026 took place on their originally scheduled dates.
