Prince Edward Island Holds Biggest Immigration Draw 

Prince Edward Island (PEI) has held its largest provincial immigration draw of 2026 by inviting 195 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. The draw took place on July 16 through the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP).0

The latest invitation round continued the province’s focus on selecting candidates who are already living and working in Prince Edward Island. The province also continued to prioritize workers in occupations facing labour shortages, helping employers fill important positions across different sectors. 

So far in 2026, Prince Edward Island has followed a regular draw schedule by holding one provincial immigration draw every month.

The latest PEI PNP draw invited candidates through the following immigration categories:

• Labour Impact
• PEI Express Entry

The province also continued to give priority to international graduates who completed their studies at one of the following educational institutions:

• University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI);
• Holland College; and
• Collège de l’Île.

Since the beginning of 2026, every PEI PNP draw has continued to prioritize graduates from these three institutions.

With the exception of the March 20 draw, Prince Edward Island has followed its published Invitation to Apply (ITA) schedule throughout 2026.

NOTE: The Labour Impact category comprises three streams: Skilled Worker Stream, Critical Worker Stream, and International Graduate Stream.

As of July 16, the province has invited a total of 853 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in 2026.

Upcoming PEI PNP Draw Schedule

Unlike many other Canadian provinces and territories, Prince Edward Island publishes its planned Invitation to Apply (ITA) draw schedule in advance. This gives prospective applicants a better idea of when future invitation rounds are expected.

According to the province’s current schedule, five more draws are planned for the remainder of 2026. These are expected to take place on:

• August 20
• September 17
• October 15
• November 19
• December 17

The province has clarified that these dates are tentative and are provided for general information only.

Prince Edward Island may conduct a draw earlier or later than planned. It may also organize additional invitation rounds if required.

Even so, the province has remained largely consistent with its published schedule. During 2025, 8 of the 11 draws were held on the announced dates. In 2026, six of the seven draws have also taken place as scheduled.

The province published its annual ITA schedule on its official immigration website on January 7, 2026, one week before the first draw of the year.

How Candidates Can Receive An Invitation?

Foreign nationals who wish to receive an invitation through the PEI Provincial Nominee Program must first create an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the province’s official immigration portal.

After registration, each profile receives a score based on the information submitted. The province ranks candidates according to their ability to support Prince Edward Island’s economy and labour market.

The points-based system considers several factors, including:

• Official language proficiency in English or French
• Educational background, including level, field, and place of study
• Work experience and skills connected to in-demand occupations or priority industries
• Alignment with provincial priorities, including current workforce needs
• Employment potential, such as holding a PEI job offer or having previous Canadian work experience

Candidates with stronger profiles and higher scores generally have a better chance of receiving an invitation.

Once invited, applicants have 30 calendar days to submit a complete provincial nomination application.

Successful candidates receive a provincial nomination from Prince Edward Island and can then apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for Canadian permanent residence.
