Canada Holds The First Education Draw Under Express Entry
Canada holds the first education draw under Express Entry. The immigration department issued over 2,500 ITAs in the education category.
To be considered for this draw, applicants must have:
- A minimum CRS, i.e., Comprehensive Ranking System score of 462
- Created an Express Entry applicant profile before 4:24 a.m., Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) on July 9, 2025

The recent education category draw is only the second in Express Entry’s history. It features a significantly lower CRS cut-off (from 479 to 462) and a larger draw size (1,000 ITAs to 2,500 ITAs today) than the previous draw, which occurred on May 1.
In addition, the recent Express Entry draw is the fifth of the month and follows a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on September 15, a 4,500 ITA French-language draw on September 4, and a smaller Canadian Experience (CEC) draw on September 3.
Thus far, IRCC has issued 59,797 ITAs through the Express Entry system in 2025.
Moreover, Express Entry draws this year have primarily focused on PNP draws, with the remainder of Express Entry ITAs dedicated to CEC applicants, applicants with French-language proficiency, and those in the Express Entry priority occupation categories:
