September 14 and 15 will be the final intake dates this year for Saskatchewan employers in capped sectors looking to support their workers through the provincial immigration process.

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) has reserved 550 provincial immigration spaces for these sectors. The spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The province announced the September intake in its September 2, 2026 update. It also confirmed that the intake previously planned for November 2, 2026, has been cancelled.

The final intake will cover workers in retail, trucking, accommodation, and food services. Employers must submit an Employer Position Assessment (EPA) application during the relevant intake period.

The table below shows each capped sector’s submission window and the number of positions available for that sector, for the SINP’s final intake period:

Capped SectorDate And Time Of Intake OpeningNumber Of Available Spots
Retail, trade, and other servicesSeptember 14: 9:30 a.m.175
TruckingSeptember 14: 9:30 a.m.150
AccommodationsSeptember 14: 1:30 p.m.50
Food servicesSeptember 15: 1:30 p.m.175

Employers can submit an EPA once the relevant intake opens. They can continue submitting applications until the available spaces for the sector are filled.

The SINP will return EPA applications submitted outside the designated intake periods without processing them.

Each position included in an EPA counts toward the sector’s intake cap. Employers can include multiple positions in one EPA application. However, employers in capped sectors can include a maximum of three positions in a single application.

Employers in capped sectors can submit an EPA only when the worker has six months or less remaining on their work permit.

The SINP has also warned employers that available spaces can fill quickly. Although an intake window may stay open for several days, most capped sectors generally reach their limits within hours of opening.

Employers are therefore encouraged to prepare their EPA applications before the intake begins and submit them as soon as the relevant sector opens.

In 2026, EPA assessment processing times have generally ranged from three to four weeks.

An EPA allows a Saskatchewan employer to request approval for a position intended for a foreign worker. The application includes basic information about the worker and details about the offered position.

Once the province approves the position, the worker can use the related job offer to support a SINP nomination application.

After the employer submits the EPA, the worker has 10 calendar days to review and confirm the submission. Following conditional approval, the worker has 60 days to submit the nomination application.

The distribution of available spaces can change if a sector reaches its cap or if Saskatchewan receives a change to its overall nomination allocation.

So far in 2026, Saskatchewan has filled 1,262 positions through capped-sector intakes held between January 13 and July 7.

The province stated in its September 2 update that nomination spaces originally planned for later intakes will become available during the September intake.

Employers operating in non-capped sectors do not have to wait for a specific intake period. They can submit an EPA at any time.

SINP Nomination Figures

The SINP has a nomination allocation of 4,761 for 2026.

As of June 30, Saskatchewan had issued 2,628 nominations, representing about 55% of its annual allocation.

For 2026, the province has divided its nomination spaces into three sector categories:

  • Priority sectors: 2,380.
  • Capped sectors: 1,190.
  • Other sectors: 1,191.

SINP Priority Sectors (50%)

Saskatchewan has identified seven sectors for priority consideration under the SINP in 2026:

  • Healthcare
  • Agriculture
  • Skilled trades
  • Mining
  • Manufacturing
  • Energy
  • Technology

Saskatchewan had issued 1,466 nominations to workers in these sectors as of June 30.

SINP Capped Sectors (25%)

Capped sectors are subject to annual nomination limits, allowing Saskatchewan to control intake and allocate immigration spaces in line with labour market needs.

For 2026, three sectors are subject to caps:

  1. Accommodation and food services (15%)
  2. Retail trade and other services (5%)
  3. Trucking (5%)

As of June 30, Saskatchewan had issued 718 nominations to workers in capped sectors.

SINP Other Sectors (25%)

Sectors that do not fall within the SINP’s priority or capped categories are grouped under ‘other sectors.’

By June 30, the province had issued 444 nominations to workers in these sectors.

The September intake gives Saskatchewan employers in capped sectors another opportunity to support eligible foreign workers through the provincial immigration process.

Employers planning to participate should prepare their applications in advance and submit them as soon as their sector’s intake window opens, as available spaces may fill quickly.
